US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama reveal their picks for 2015's best films, songs and TV shows.
President Obama told People magazine that Ridley Scott's "The Martian" starring Matt Damon is his pick as his favorite film.
"The Martian" is about a NASA astronaut who has been left stranded on Mars when his colleagues thought he was dead. In the film, Damon's character had to survive with limited resources.
Meanwhile, the First Lady picked Pixar's animated film, "Inside out."
As for their jam, the President Picks "How Much a Dollar Cost" by Kendrick Lamar from the critically acclaimed album, "To Pimp a Butterfly". Michelle on the other hand, picks "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars.
Earlier this year, President Obama shared that his summer playlist consists of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Mos Def., Erykah Badu and Mary J. Blige, Rolling Stone reported.
A famous bibliophile himself, the president picked "Fates and Furies" by Lauren Groff. The novel presents two different perspectives about what makes a great marriage. The book has been hailed by critics and is shortlisted as a finalist for the National Book Award. For the First Lady, her pick is "The Light of the World" by Elizabeth Alexander, a book about a widow coping with the sudden death of her husband.
As for their favorite TV shows, the President reveals that he is a fan of Cinemax's "The Knick" which stars Clive Owen as a talented surgeon plagued by his drug addiction. Michelle on the other hand, prefers ABC hit comedy "Black-ish." President Obama confirmed that he is also a fan of the show. In fact, "Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson even said that he has made an outlandish request to have the couple make a guest appearance on the show.
President Obama previously made a guest appearance in an episode of "Running Wild." The episode will air on Dec. 17 in NBC.
