The much-anticipated crime thriller "Fast & Furious 8" is slated for a 2017 release after the success of its 2015 blockbuster "Furious 7." "Fast & Furious 7" made more than $1 billion, and still there are three movies and many years ahead before its end.

However, neither production companies nor cast members have unveiled any specific details concerning the upcoming film, which leaves fans to speculate on what the film will be like particularly with the absence of star Paul Walker, who died in 2013.

Rumor mills have it that "Fast & Furious 8" cast will include Cody Walker, Paul's younger brother, who played as his body double in "Furious" following the demise of the latter in a single-vehicle collision, according to Movie Pilot via Australia Network News. Cody might take on Brian O'Conner younger brother's role; a character whose family believed had died in war.

Further exciting rumors indicate that the 70-year-old Academy Award winner Dame Helen Mirren, who starred in "Red" and "Red 2" action movies, will as well join the cast of "Furious 8."

Talking to MTV, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) made a joke about his "Witch Hunter" co-stars in the movie, saying, "I think everyone should do the franchise. They've gotta get in line behind Helen Mirren. She is on the list. Be careful what you wish for, Helen."

In addition, it is speculated that U.S. Customs agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes), who featured in the second and fifth installments of the franchise, may join the cast for the upcoming "Furious 8."

Events in "Fast & Furious 7" showed Toretto and the rest of the cast running in criminal circles involving the federal government, and therefore, it will not be long before they either help Fuentes or run away from her.

"Fast & Furious 8" will hit the theaters on April 14, 2017. Here is a promo for the upcoming movie.
