"If I Were A Boy" singer Beyonce is set to have a new movie role in a Bradley Coorper-directed film.
Beyonce is going to star in "A Star is Born" remake, which also serves Cooper's directorial debut, according to Page Six. A source told the publication that the "If I Were A Boy" singer was "a go" while the "The Hangover" star was out to find the rest of the cast members for the upcoming fim remake and take an acting role in the meantime.
An insider told US Weekly that Beyonce wanted to land roles in movies and had been taking classes in New York and Los Angeles for the past year. The source added that the singer wanted to make a film that was socially relevant to African American rights and she was writing and working with a bunch of producers right now.
Aside from her singing career and the upcoming "A Star is Born" remake, Beyonce is also known for her acting roles in Chrs Wedge's animated film "Epic" and Steve Shill's thriller drama "Obsessed."
On the other hand, Cooper is also known for his roles in Todd Phillips' comedy film "The Hangover," David Russell's romance drama film "Silver Linings Playbook" and crime drama film "American Hustle," and Clint Eastwood's action biopic "American Sniper."
Cooper is set to be part of Russell's comedy drama film "Joy" and voice a dog in Lasse Hallstrom's comedy drama "A Dog's Purpose" and Rocket the raccoon in James Gunn's upcoming Marvel Comics film sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2."
"A Star is Born" follows a film star who helps a young singer and actress find fame, while age and alcoholism sends his own vocation on a downward wave. The first version of the film was released 1937 with William Wellman as director and Janet Gaynor and Frederic March as its lead stars.
In 1954, a remake was released with George Cukor at the helm and Judy Garland and James Mason as the lead stars. A third iteration was released in 1976, which was helmed by Frank Pierson and was starred by Barbra Streisand and Kris Krsitopherson.
With the "A Star is Born" remake in its early phase, exact details on the plot, characters, cast, and release date are yet to be revealed.
