Since "Star Wars" is one of the biggest franchises in the world, it is assumed that its $4 billion price tag stands as the deal of the century.
"Star Wars" is not cheap, according to Wired. While Disney purchased the franchise with a huge price in 2012, the studio would be able to easily replace the price in large ways, not only with J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens," but also with other merchandises of the franchise, such as clothing, action figures, slippers, devices, and a lot more.
According to Reddit user knatxxx, Disney had likely had their eyes set on the "Star Wars" franchise for some time and the studio had used their Marvel purchase to yield capital to purchase "Star Wars." For knatxxx, it had been a "hell of a play" for Disney for buying a comic company for a low price prior to buying "Star Wars."
Fans are set to experience "Star Wars" in Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," which is set 30 years after the events in the "Return of Jedi."
The film casts an ensemble old and new actors including Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson, among others.
Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Dec. 18.
