A dubious Chinese tech website claims the upcoming iPhone 7 would have a 256GB option. While the Chinese language article that appeared on Mydrivers says that option will come along with normal options, it did not clarify if the usual entry-level 16GB would increase or if Apple would have four capacity options.
But Appleinsider points out that the English language paraphrase article, published by Gadget Arena, "it's easy to speculate that larger storage options will emerge." What the former finds difficult to believe is that the alleged 256GB option would be offered only to the bigger iPhone 7 Plus and not the standard iPhone 7.
It notes that the option is apparently out of line with previous generations of iPhones made by the Cupertino-based tech giant. Appleinsider stresses that when Apple launched iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in 2014, the two phone models had identical specs, except for the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) feature of the 6 Plus.
The feature was incorporated in the larger model, which was a design choice based on limited volume and thickness which do not allow incorporating the OIS in the standard model.
Another dubious claim of the Chinese report is that the iPhone 7 Plus would sport a 3100mAh battery which represents as 12 percent capacity boost from the iPhone 6 Plus's 2750mAh. If the report is correct, that would add two to three hours of battery juice, reports Macrumors.
Appleinsider debunks further the claims of the Chinese website by stating that Mydrivers made predictions on the iPad mini which turned out to be false in terms of width, pixel density and selling price.
