"The Revenant" actor Leonardo DiCaprio turned down the roles of Anakin Skywalker of "Star Wars" franchise, Spider-Man, and Robin of "Batman Forever."
The actor explained the reason why he ended turning down the following roles in an interview of a magazine. The 41-year-old actor DiCaprio turned down the role of Anakin Skywalker of George Lucas' "Star Wars" prequel, which was soon offered to Hayden Christensen, because he "did not feel ready to take that dive," according to Short List.
Aside from turning down the epic space opera franchise, DiCaprio also rejected the role of Robin of "Batman Forever." There was a rumor that he was not screen-tested for the role. The "Wolf of Wall Street" answered he never had a screen-test for that role but he had a meeting with Joel Schumacher, the director of the super hero movie.
The interviewer asked the actor if he wants that role. He said he "don't think so," then he laughed.
Another role that he turned down was "Spider-Man," which was portrayed by Tobey Maguire. His reason why he rejected the role was "he was not ready to take that."
Meanwhile. the actor who was handpicked to take the role of Anakin Skywalker, Christensen, decided to leave the spotlight of Hollywood after the released of "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" in 2005. The Canadian actor now owns some farmland, according to LA Times.
The latest movie of the 34-year-old actor was "90 Minutes in Heaven" which was released on Sep. 11, 2015. When he was promoting his first movie after five years, he shared the reason why he left the Hollywood.
"I guess I felt like I had this great thing in 'Star Wars' that provided all these opportunities and gave me a career, but it all kind of felt a little too handed to me," he said. "I didn't want to go through life feeling like I was just riding a wave," he added.
