Former NBA Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson could be joining other ex-NBA players in China anytime soon.
According to Nick Bedard of Basketball Buddha, Robinson is on his way to China for a workout with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
"Traditionally, when a team flies a player out for an individual workout it means they are in the final stages of signing the player to a contract," Bedard wrote.
If Robinson gets a spot with the Flying Tigers, he would likely be a backup behind former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Andrew Goudelock, who has been averaging 20.8 points per game for Xinjiang.
Robinson last played for the New Orleans Pelicans but was only featured in very limited minutes. The three-time slam dunk champ was released following the Pelican's 112-94 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 28 last year.
The high-flying point guard has indicated an interest for a basketball career in China in September, when he was rumored to have been mulling offer from the Sichuan Blue Whales, one of the two top teams in the 2015-2016 CBA season.
Robinson has an NBA career-average of 11.0 points and 3.0 assists per contest. The 32-year-old guard played for the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, OKC Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, LA Clippers, and the Pelicans.
His best game in his 10-year NBA career came in the 2008-2009 season with the Knicks, when he averaged 17.2 points and 4.1 assists, while playing 29.9 minutes per game.
Meanwhile, the Flying Tigers, who is coming off a 118-97 win over the Bayi Rockets, will take on the Shanghai Sharks, who are carrying a 14-15 record.
