Too much violence, profane language, nudity and sexual content has caused the upcoming Fox superhero movie "Deadpool" to be given an "R" rating in the U.S. But in China, chance of the film being shown are zero that fans of the movie say they would go to Hong Kong or Taiwan to watch it.
Even an official of company that markets the movie confirmed that "'Deadpool' is dead!" insofar as the Chinese film market is concerned. That's because even if the movie has not been reviewed by the Chinese regulators, chance of it getting an approval is extremely slim. The other scenario would be that "Deadpool" would be so heavily censored that it would not be worth watching it in mainland China, reported Globaltimes.
That is why Li Xin, chief planning inspector for China Film Co., posted the hint of what awaits the superhero movie if it is submitted for the censor's review in China. His advice to fans it to instead wait for downloads or DVDs of the movie.
Chinese viewers are not interested in watching the chopped version of the film like what happened in 2014 to "Kingsman: The Secret Service" in which the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) cut the church massacre scene, deemed too violent.
MTV added that while the film is highly NSFW, or "Not Safe for Work," in China, it is not safe for showing at all. Citing The Hollywood Reporter, the entertainment websites said that the SAPPRFT has either banned or considered the movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, as unfit for showing in the country.
