The movie industry is busy with remakes and sequels, but Hollywood looks across the other side of the ocean, like Japan, for source materials and inspiration. One of the many movies Hollywood hopes to adapt is "Death Note," a phenomenal supernatural anime and manga.

As per My Anime List, "Death Note" is a story about the discoverer of a mysterious notebook, Light Yagami, which allows him to kill anyone by just merely writing their name in it. Deciding to get rid of evil in the world, a detective only known as "L" will try to chase him. The short description of the movie makes it quite intriguing.

The anime relatively was aired from October 2006 to June 2007, and remarkably got famed. It was adapted to three live action films in Japan, which one was for a TV special.

Hollywood is trying to adapt the story where Warner Bros. is eyeing on Shane Black to direct the movie. The famous director is known for directing "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "Iron Man 3" and the upcoming "Nice Guys."

Nevertheless, news from Death Note reported that Black was replaced as he wanted an adaptation faithful to the anime. Warner Bros was pushing on something that was morally black and white, with Kira cracked as the anti-hero than anyone who can be considered evil.

As posted in Hollywood Reported, the new director is now Adam Wingard. He may not possess the qualities of producing a blockbuster movie compared to Shane Black, but he also directed horror movies such as "You're Next" and "The Guest." Joining him in producing the project are Masi Oka, Jason Hoffs, Dan Lin and Roy Lee. The movie is antecedently conformed to its home country Japan, and is hopeful to generate a sequel.

So stay tune for more updates till the film's release.
