The Orlando Magic has recently placed power forward Channing Frye on the trading block and one of the proposed trade scenarios for the veteran big man involves Memphis Grizzlies forward Jeff Green.

Frye, one of the old stretch fours in the NBA today, has always been a reliable role player and three-point shooting big since his days with Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns almost a decade ago.

He averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in 33 minutes per game, the best output he had so far in his 10-year career, during the 2010-2011 season while also shooting 39.0 percent from downtown. The season before, he pulled off his best three-point shooting clip at 43.9 percent.

However, because of a dramatic decrease in playing time (he now plays a little bit over 17 minutes a night), the 32-year-old has not produced the same numbers and shooting accuracy. Frye is averaging a measly 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 43 games this season while shooting a still impressive 40.0 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

His highly efficient three-point shot continues to give him a lot of value especially to teams who are looking to play the small-ball type of basketball. Fansided reported that a league executive commented Frye "is a player that you will hear a lot more about before the deadline" because of it.

Hoops Habit's Gerald Bourguet suggested a trade for Memphis' Green as something both teams could look into.

Bourguet noted that "with Green set to hit free agency this summer, you have to wonder about the front office's commitment to keeping the current core intact as opposed to bracing for the future".

It is true that the 29-year-old combo forward is playing well as of late, averaging 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in almost 30 minutes a night, but if they lose him in July all of it will not matter.

Another reason why the Grizz could consider trading Green right now would be their desire to change things up in Memphis to at least have a different outcome in the 2016-2017 season.

The team had held on with their core for several years now and it still resulted in the same average success but have not entirely went over the hump against the West's great teams.
