Jon Snow was left for dead in the Season 5's final episode of the "Game of Thrones." The last scene strongly suggested that Jon, stabbed repeatedly by his Night Watch brothers, is gone for good. But rumors and theories persist, indicating that come the Season 6 Snow will rise from the dead and lead an epic battle to regain Winterfell for the House Stark.

According to Business Insider, the Grand Northern Conspiracy that imagines a resurrected Jon Snow certainly stands on solid ground, supported by events depicted by author George R.R. Martin in his book "A Song of Ice and Fire" and that of the HBO-produced television series.

In the book, the King in the North Robb Stark thought it wise to designate a heir prior to the Red Wedding Massacre. Against the advice of his mother Catelyn, Robb assembled a council meeting that allegedly proclaimed a man next in line. It was mentioned too that Robb had decided to legitimize his step-brother to pave the way for Jon becoming a Stark.

The last hurdle to Robb's plan is Jon's attachment to the Night Watch, which the book seemed to have resolved by way of a special decree that freed up Snow from any form of vows and restrictions.

The documents pertaining to the proclamation, which Northern lords apparently have approved ended up on the possession of a nobleman named Wyman Manderly. There are signs the same character will make his entry in time for GoT Season 6, the report said.

As for proofs of the theory on the TV show, there were sporadic hints that the Starks or least the surviving members of the family still enjoy the love and loyalty of the North. One was when Sansa Stark returned to Winterfell, a woman assured her that "the North remembers," which Business Insider said translates to most of the Northerners will not forget the treachery inflicted by the Boltons and Freys to the Starks.

And there was the message shown by Stannis Baratheon to Jon Snow that read: "Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is Stark." Essentially, the note declares undying love for the family of Eddard Stark that likely will be extended to his soon-to-be legitimized son.

Yet how can Jon Snow ascend to the Stark lead if he is a corpse? Enter the Red God priestess Lady Melisandre. The Red Woman was seen reentering the gates of the Castle Black hours before Snow was attacked by the Night Watchers.

Melisandre is believed to possess the power to bring back the dead, which was demonstrated by fellow Red priest Thoros when he summoned Brotherhood Without Banners chief Ser Beric Dondarrion back into life. Dondarrion was mortally wounded during a bruising battle with Ser Sandor Clegane.

The Hound delivered a blow to Ser Beric that seemed sent the latter to the grave but Thoros' prayers to the Lord of Light saved the knight. So "if all goes according to plan, Jon will be resurrected by Melisandre, take up his Stark name, and lead a revolt against the Boltons," Business Insider said.

And if the Game of Thrones fan blog site WinterIsComing.net is to be believed Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) was seen leading a Northern Army in a slugfest against Ramsay Bolton. The battle, the report said, will be shown as part of Episode 9 of the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 that will premiere April 24.
