"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 is only a few hours away from its highly-anticipated midseason premiere. Episode 9 is titled "The Sound of Silence" and will see the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital return to work. Meanwhile, Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey is horribly attacked by a patient. The upcoming segment is expected to deal with the Season 12 midseason finale cliffhangers. Answers related to Owen's sibling are expected to unfurl. At the same time, fans are curious to know what's next for April and Jackson's marriage and Jo's response to Alex's proposal. However, fans might have to wait to watch the show explore these story arcs as the show opens with a tragic event.
According to Spoiler TV's description for episode 9 of Season 12 "Grey's Anatomy," Meredith is beaten up by her patient. Injured Meredith is discovered by Penny who rushes to help her. Panic spreads and all the doctors come together for Meredith's treatment. In the meantime, Meredith finds support from her friends and colleague as she deals with the "harrowing aftermath" of the attack.
A promo video for "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 episode 9 as obtained by E!Online teases what to expect from the midseason premiere. Meanwhile, actor Jason George, who plays the role of Ben Warren, revealed details about the Denzel Washington directed segment.
In an interview with E!News, George said that it is an "intense" episode. "It's a great hour of television you are not going to want to miss. And at the end of the day, as Grey's often does, Shonda Rhimes takes you further in the drama than you think you can go because she buys it with pathos."
George, who will be one of many doctors in the hospital room treating Meredith, reveals that the episode will include "inspiring moments, moments of love and moments of comedy."
As noted by Sarah Drew (April) in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, episode 9 is Meredith-centric episode. Status of April's relationship with Jackson will not be revealed until Season 12 episode 11, which is expected to be a "big one" for the couple. It is reported that everyone else remains on the side lines when the second half of the show premieres.
