There are speculations that Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge may sport the largest battery 3,600 mAh ever seen in an Android smartphone.

Samsung had surprisingly decreased the battery capacity in the smartphone models last year. This led to the battery life being one of the weakest points for the devices like the Galaxy S6 and the Note 5, accoding to The Verge.

Hence, it was reported on many customer forums that the Galaxy S6 frequently struggled to make it through a day of the usage of an average customer.

However, things will be different in this year's flagship, according to Android AuthorityThe upcoming Galaxy S7's variant - the Galaxy S7 Edge - is rumored to sport a better battery capacity than its precedessors. A recently leaked FCC filing confirmed that the Galaxy S7 Edge will include a massive 3,600 mAh battery.

It is larger in comparison with the Note 5's 3,000 mAh battery capacity, and even bigger than the Google Nexus 6P's 3,450 mAh battery capacity. Even though a big number is not a confirmation of a great battery life, it is most likely a possible scenario.

Regarding the possible release date of Samsung Galaxy S7 variants, Samsung is rumored to launch them at Mobile World Congress later this month, which is being held in Barcelona, Spain.

This year, besides the battery, there are numerous changes on the design and display front of both variants as well. Last year's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge shared the same screen size, but this year, the Galaxy S7 Edge is rumored to be larger than the regular Galaxy S7. It is said that the device will feature a 5.5-inch display screen that comes in a much curvier shape.

Meanwhile, the other specs of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge include a micro SD slot, a USB Type C connection slot and a 4GB of RAM. In terms of the camera specs, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are speculated to be equipped with a 12 mega pixel rear camera, which will be further armed with a f/1.7 lens.

Both of these devices are expected to be equipped with Android Marshmallow out of the box.
