"Battlefield 5," the first person shooter video game, release date is still unknown as DICE remains mum. However, there are rumors that the developer company will release one last DLC for "Battlefield: Hardline" in March, when the game turns one year.

DICE seems not ready to unveil more details about the nest installment in "Battlefield" franchise. While the company had said that there would be a big announcement a week ago, it turned out that the reveal was about a different game, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst," according to Attack of the Fanboy.

However, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst," which is another title from DICE, is also a great and popular game. In fact, the fanbase has been eager to see the next installment after the original game was released back in 2008.

While "MEC" is a great game and worthy of the hype it has received, there is no doubt that the game is simply not "Battlefield 5," Gaming Bolt reported. As a result, many fans were disillusioned that the big reveal was not the fifth installment of "Battlefield" franchise. Most of them vented their disappointment via social media with some saying that they really expected the trailer to be for "Battlefield 5."

With the release of "Battlefield: Hardline" DLC coming in March, many fans believe that the next title will be coming out very soon.

In July 2015, Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen announced that "Battlefield 5" will be released in 2016. The announcement was later confirmed after the developer company, DICE, director Dan Vaderlind said that he will be moving on to the next "Battlefield" installment as soon as "Star Wars: Battlefront" hits the shelves.

"Battlefield" is a definitive game that placed DICE into the top position of the game developers' pyramid. The franchise has spanned 13 games and 23 expansion packs to date, making it to be the lucrative and iconic first person shooter ever. There are rumors that "Battlefield 5" will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, besides having VR support for some extremely immersive gameplay.

Fans of the franchise will have to wait a little bit longer for more updates concerning the release date of "Battlefield 5."
