The upcoming game "Gears of War 4," which is slated for a release in winter this year, might be the biggest and most expansive game ever.

There is still some time to wait before the game becomes available. Microsoft has a tradition to launching its titles earlier than the multi-platform big hitters like "Call of Duty," so an October release date is rational, according to Expert Reviews.

After a surprising announcement at the 2015 E3 Xbox One press conference, "Gears of War 4" is now among the hottest titles to come to Xbox One this year. The games release marks a long wait of three years after the previous "Gears of War: Judgment" was launched.

The game has grown into a big franchise for Microsoft over the past 10 years. In fact, Microsoft bought the rights from Epic Games in 2014 to develop the series for itself, besides bringing on board Rod Fergusson, the producer of the first three games at Epic. Fergusson will be leading the development at The Coalition, initially Microsoft Vancouver, which shows that "Gears of War 4" is in safe hands.

According to a different report by the same publication, since Xbox One exclusive "Quantum Break" will make its way to Windows 10, there are increased rumors that other Microsoft first-party titles will make the same move. "Gears of War Ultimate Edition," "Halo Wars 2," "ReCore," and "Killer Instinct" are also confirmed to make it to Windows 10, and therefore, it will be surprising if the tech giant failed to release "Gears of Wars 4" and "Forza Motorsport 6" on the platform as well.

There are rumors that the PC version of "Quantum Break" will be given away for free to fans pre-ordering the digital version of the game on Xbox One, probably with some sort of Windows 10 Xbox-app based copy protection.

While "Quantum Break" has no multiplayer component, game saves will be compatible with both versions, so players can switch back and forth. It would be interesting if "Gears of War 4" went ahead with full Windows-Xbox crossplay for competitive and co-op.
