Unlike other award events that are shot in a theater, this year, the MTV Movie Awards show will be pre-recorded and filmed outdoors in various locations on the Warner Bros backlot and then aired on April 9, the Variety reported.

Soon after breaking the news last week, Johnson said that hosting the MTV Movie Award is an and it would be all the more thrilling to share the responsibility with someone who's not only considered to be among the funniest people on this planet, but who is often mistaken as his twin, Kevin Hart. "The Rock," as Johnson is fondly referred to, added that they exist for their fans and promised to make the event an epic, historic memorable night for their fans.

On the other hand, Hart, who hosted the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, said he loved hosting shows, as it was his thing. According to him, Dwayne and he are the ideal team for hosting the 25th anniversary of the show.

Meanwhile, the Casey Patterson, the executive producer of 2016 MTV Movie Awards, also agreed that Johnson and Hart will make the perfect hosts because they engage with their fans. Patterson told the media outlet, "We could not be in better hands than with these two guys because they really represent what it means to be a movie star right now," adding "They talk directly to their fans all the time. They are always in a conversation with their fans."

According to MTV, the 43-year-old former wrestler and the 36-year-old comedian also are crowdsourcing their jobs, thereby enabling fans to submit ideas for the show and also direct the promos, LA Times reported.

MTV will broadcast the live-streaming event on a number of social media platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook Live, Periscope, Meerkat and YouNow and also allow fans to interact with the hosts using the hashtag #movieawards.

Following this, MTV will pick footage for promos from the platforms and also credit the fans that helped to create the content.

MTV is yet to announce the names of the nominees, performers and presenters for the 25th MTV Movie Awards.
