Korea's second largest car manufacturer KIA Motors Corporation is said to be recalling equipments on one of its distribution arm. In a notice issued Saturday, Kia Motors America (KMA), American sales, distribution and marketing of KMC, is said to be recalling an estimated 87,000 2014 Forte Sedans due to a faulty equipment, 13 Wham reported.
The faulty equipment, which is said to be a cooling fan resistor, may melt and overheat that could cause fire to a car. The recall, which is expected to commence on Feb. 24, will affect all KIA Fortes made within Dec. 5, 2012 to April 17, 2014.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents states that all recalled cars will undergo a multi fuse unit and cooling fan resistor replacement. In addition, those KIA Forte compact sedans that has 1.8 liter engine will also get an updated engine control unit software though, according to West Kentucky Star, owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or KIA at 1-800-333-4542 for more information about the replacements.
This is not the first time KIA was involved in recalling some of its products as 2010 KIA Soul and 2011 KIA Sorento were recalled for having a faulty wiring harness; and, 2007-2010 Rondo,2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, 2010-2011 Soul, 2008-2011 Optima, 2010 Forte, 2007-2009 Amanti, and 2009 Borrego were recalled for having a malfunctioned stop lamp switch.
On other KIA news, Korean-based automobile manufacturer's net profit in 2014 last quarter fell and blames Russian economy for its 54 percent profit fall.
