Former "Harry Potter" star Katie Leung is set to star in the action-thriller "The Foreigner" alongside action legends Peirce Brosnan and Jackie Chan.

The film, which is based on a 1992 novel by Stephen Leather titled "The Chairman," has already caused media backlash after a stunt on Lambeth Bridge left London citizens scared, Daily Mail reported. The stunt had included the explosion of a double-decker bus on the famous bridge. London residents then proceeded to call emergency hotlines in fear that the stunt was another terrorist attack.

However, the film's spokespeople assured the public that the explosion was staged and was under control, Deadline reported. Emergency services were told about the explosion ahead of time and nobody was injured during the incident.

As for the film itself, "The Foreigner" will have Chan take the role of Quan, a restaurant owner who is forced to take his morals into question after Irish terrorists kill his daughter, played by Leung. Brosnan will be an ex-IRA government official who did not do anything to stop the deaths of Quan's family.

Pictures and videos from the film's set were recently leaked and showed Leung in the passenger seat of a car with Chan. The young actress looked thrilled to be in the car with the legendary action star. The filming of the movie started in January in Balham, London.

The scenes that were shot in Balham were seen by a local resident Tris Royce, as his residence was located floors above the street where the filming was taking place. Royce also stated that the scenes he was able to see were quite boring. According to the Balham resident, all he saw for most of the day was Chan walking across the street over and over again, as well as the car Chan and Leung barely moved.

"The Foreigner" is rumored to be directed by Martin Campbell, who is well known for directing two Bond films "Golden Eye" and "Casino Royale." However, there has yet to be a formal confirmation of this.

The film is being released by STX Entertainment and is looking at a fourth quarter 2016 to first quarter 2017 release.
