Dubbed the Carrot Man, Jeyrick Sigmaton became a trending topic recently when his photos carrying a basket of carrots went viral. Some netizens noticed his resemblance to Jang Keun-suk, who is known for his starring role in the South Korean romantic comedy series "Pretty Man."
It has been three years since Jang starred in "Pretty Man." In January, it was confirmed that he will be part of the cast of the new SBS drama series titled "Daebak," which is about a big gamble between one man and the king, according to Koogle TV.
During the press conference for "Daebak" at a cafe in Seoul, South Korea, on Feb. 17, writer Kwon Soon-kyu and producer Nam Gun praised Jang. The actor has an incredible passion for acting, AllKPop quoted Nam as saying.
For some netizens, Jang looks like Sigmaton and they wish to see the Carrot Man in movies and on TV just like the South Korean actor. Aside from their physical appearance, it appears that Sigmaton and Jang have other similarities.
Jang was born in Danyang County, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It is mountainous and very rugged and is home to the Gosu Cave, which is among the best known natural South Korean caves.
Like Jang, Sigmaton also hails from a mountainous place in the countryside. He is from Mountain Province, the only province in the Philippines with an English name.
Mountain Province is known for its mummy cave particularly in the Sagada district, which was one of the locations of "That Thing Called Tadhana," the highest grossing Filipino independent film of all time.
On Feb. 18, Thursday, Facebook user Edwina T. Bandong posted photos of her visit in Mountain Province. Among the photos are those of Sigmayton carrying a basket of carrots, which earned him the name The Carrot Man.
There are still not many details revealed about Sigmaton and the Carrot Man himself has yet to release a statement about his newfound fame.
