In unboxing the Galaxy S7 this week, Samsung showed off two key feature upgrades that in all likelihood will be matched by Apple with its iPhone 7 release date plans. New reports are indicating that the next iPhone is likely to pack OLED display and a dual-camera system.

Such move is no doubt the tech giant's answer to two Galaxy S7 features that apparently got the nod of experts - the Super AMOLED screen that according to DisplayMate Technologies is the best there is around and a 12-megapixel that was boosted with wider f/1.7 aperture and bigger pixels with optical image stabilization or OIS.

On the account of the GS7's stunning display and killer camera alone, industry watchers are forecasting an interesting fight. The consensus is, any of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are no match to the duo of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. However, it should be exciting how Apple will again steal the thunder of Samsung's show with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus combo.

Will the 2016 iPhones have what it takes to beat the current Samsung challenge and keep the smartphone throne?

OLED in next iPhone

As proven by Samsung with the GS7, OLED enjoys a number of advantages over LCD panel, which remains the standard in iPhone screen. As reported by MacRumors, the image sharpness that OLED display packs lead to screen resolution enhancements thrice better than the competition. And in terms of "brightness, color accuracy and contrast rating in high ambient light," OLED is unmatched at the moment.

And with the advancements achieved so far by Samsung with OLED technology, the company successfully assembled a flagship in the GS7 that is "thinner and lighter with thinner bezels, faster response times, better viewing angles, and always-on mode."

So will OLED be part of the iPhone 7 rollout? MacRumors said that until Apple has resolved two issues involving the technology - high production cost and shorter lifespan - the idea is likely to remain a rumor until the next few years.

Dual-camera

But the dual-camera system already seen with the LG G5 is more likely to be implemented as a better version in the next iPhone. For starters, the killer camera feature ending up in a new iPhone is supported by Apple patents, which according to 9to5Mac indicates that the iPhone maker has the technology that can exceed what Samsung has showcased with the Galaxy S7.

And in terms of mass producing the components for such a system, the same report said that an Israeli tech firm is ready to do just that. Even Sony, which supplies the iPhone camera sensors, has made declarations that dual-lens camera will soon become the new smartphone shooting standard.

As to best illustrate the workings of dual-camera system, which the iPhone 7 on release date or specifically the iPhone 7 Plus will boast of, check out the CNET clip below:
