Producer Masachika Kawata said in an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki Playstation via Siliconera that fans should get ready for "Resident Evil 7," adding, "We're currently not at a state to talk about it... but please stay tuned."

Concerning the criticism that "Resident Evil 6" is heavy on gunplay but lacks setting and tension associated with its precursors, the game producer said that this emerged from the many spinoff tittles. According to him, the company should focus on producing titles that bring out the horror.

Most enthusiasts of "Resident Evil" expect that the plot go back to its roots that features horror scenes with survival modes as a way of reviving the game. It is rumored that Raccoon City may again serve as the map where the original outbreak was depicted.

In addition, "Resident Evil 7" may also see the return of villains William Birkin and Nemesis, who made the first three iterations successful as opposed to what happened to the subsequent ones that received negative feedback. Meanwhile, the development team of the game has been considering players' review and acknowledged that they have to change some aspects in future.

Michael Pattison, the former marketing boss said that they have definitely seen the response from consumers as well as the PR reaction.

Speaking to MCV, Pattison said, "With 'Resident Evil 6' specifically, we probably put too much content in there, there were comments from consumers that said it felt bloated. The Leon missions went down very well, and because we did 'Resident Evil Revelations' on 3DS, there was a cry out for us to focus our attention on survival horror, rather than be too many things to all people."
