"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev recently split from her boyfriend of seven months Austin Stowell.

Following their split, fans immediately speculated that one of the reasons for their breakup was Dobrev's ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder.

However, a source recently told E! News that the couple's split didn't have anything to do with a third party. Rather, Dobrev and Stowell's busy schedule is the one to be blamed.

Meanwhile, despite their almost three-year breakup, Dobrev and Somerhalder have remained good friends.

In an interview the same publication, Dobrev even congratulated Somerhalder and Nikki Reed on their wedding.

"I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we are still now," she said.

In other news, Dobrev also gave her best wishes to Somerhalder and Reed.

"When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it's not with us. But of course, we're on a teen drama show, everyone's going to look for drama. If there's no drama, there's nothing to write about. I just ignore it," Dobrev told E! News.

Meanwhile, there are some rumors that Dobrev will return to "The Vampire Diaries" for its finale episode.

According to executive producer Julie Plec, there is still hope for a reunion between Dobrev's character Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore (Somerhalder).

In an article she penned for Entertainment Weekly, Plec wrote, "All I can say is that Damon is committed to being at Elena's side when she wakes up in however many years it takes, and he's going to do everything he can to make sure he still believes he's worthy of her."

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
