Two English top flight giants, Liverpool FC (10-8-8, 38 points) and Manchester City FC (14-7-5, 47 points) are set to clash in a high-profile 2015-2016 Premier League season encounter at the Anfield on Wednesday, March 2nd as both teams try to improve their current records.
The two teams have last played a Premier League match on Feb. 14th as they competed in the Europa League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and the Capital One Cup during the last two weeks.
They actually just met in the Capital One Cup final at the Wembley Stadium last Sunday, where City won 3-1 in penalties after they ended up with a 1-1 draw in full time.
Liverpool's most recent EPL match is a lopsided 6-0 victory over cellar-dwellers Aston Villa at the Villa Park, as reported by BBC Sport.
Six different Reds players scored one goal each, namely Daniel Sturridge, James Milner, Emre Can, Divock Origi, Nathaniel Clyne, and Kolo Touré at the 16th, 25th, 58th, 63rd, 65th, and 71st minutes respectively, en route to the blowout win.
The win was only Liverpool's second in its last six EPL matches, which settled them at the ninth spot of the league table, six points behind top five squad Manchester United and 14 points away from bottom-three relegation.
Meanwhile, Manchester City's last EPL game ended up in a 1-2 loss to second-running squad Tottenham Hotspur at their own home field of Etihad Stadium, as per SkySports.
After both teams finished the first half goalless, Tottenham forward Harry Kane broke the deadlock with a penalty kick at the 58th, his 16th goal of the season in the domestic league.
City's substitute striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who replaced midfielder Fernando at the 66th, equalized the match at the 74th with a shot from the penalty spot.
However, the Spurs managed to score again, courtesy of birthday boy Christian Eriksen, at the 83rd to take back the lead and seal the win.
The loss was City's second straight in the domestic competitions and their fourth winless effort in their last six matches. They are now at the no. 4 spot of the league table, four points behind third-running Arsenal and nine points clear off league leaders Leicester City.
The predicted result is a close 2-1 win for Liverpool. The Reds avenge their 1-3 loss in the Capital One Cup final with a win over the Citizens in the Premier League.
