Sony mobile has decided to kill Xperia Z high-end series of smartphones only to replace it with the lately unveiled Xperia X.

This follows evidence that the Japanese handset maker has been struggling for a couple of years with the Z line-up failing to meet its expectations. Since 2013, the company has released over 10 phones under the Z label starting from Sony Xperia Z1.

The latest models on the list include Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium, and Z5 Compact. Even so, after all the productions and attempts to fix the issues leveled against the series, the efforts did not bear fruits. It has, therefore, been reported that this may be the main reason why the company is doing away with the line-up, Neuro Gadget reported.

Apparently, the smartphone industry has been recently characterized by the rising change of tact. For example, manufacturers like LG and Samsung have already changed their phone production approaches relative to customer desires, and this has propelled them to topping the list.

The Huawei Company is another reckoning force in the mobile phone market, not to mention other manufacturers. Conversely, HTC and Sony have been losing grip on the market, and the scrapping off of the Z series is, therefore, no surprise.

Sony hopes to regain its market share by introducing another brand - the X series. The company hails the new set by asserting that it embraces "adaptive user experiences in terms of battery performance, camera and both hardware and software design."

The tech giant has already unleashed the first X models, which include Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and the Xperia XA. The devices will come with revamped designs and modified features compared to the previous series, PC Advisor reported.

The news may have come as a disappointment to many who admired the Z series phones and those who expected more models under the same label.  Even as it goes, the series has left a legacy in camera specs and impressive designs.

Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia X is prospected to make a turn-around for Sony.
