"The thing that intrigued me about it is that the world is so different. There are so many fundamental changes to the world that Cory and Topanga's children live in," he said.

Meanwhile, Jacobs also talked about the upcoming love triangle storyline between Riley, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas (Peyton Meyer).

According to the series creator, the love triangle isn't really the main focus of the trio's scene. Rather, it will be more about Riley and Maya's friendship.

"Everyone will be brought into the equation. To answer this as simply as I can without giving anything away, the 'Girl Meets' angle has always been a very important part of the show. Every episode is titled 'Girl Meets' something. If we did 'Girl Meets Love,' it would not be one episode. It would be a sustained series of episodes in an attempt to explain, for this generation, what a perception of love is, versus what love my actually be, versus are we ready for at all? Something that is so important cannot be something we tell one story. But the understanding of how to grow and what's valuable to these kids will manifest itself over these episodes. We want it do it intelligently, and what we're not looking to do is a love triangle," he said.

Jacobs added, "I've said this from the beginning: If you look at the pilot, and look at some subsequent episodes, the hints of what we're doing are very deep-seated, and you'll understand completely. This series was always about this magnificent friendship between Riley and Maya, and if you look at the differences in the girls you will understand what's going on now."

In other news, Jacobs also said that audiences need to backtrack at how much Riley, Maya and Lucas have grown throughout the past couple of years.

With this in mind, they will have an idea on what they can expect from the finale episode.

"Girl Meets World" season 2 will air its final episode on March 11 at 8:30 pm on Disney Channel.
