The Los Angeles is once again linked to Carmelo Anthony as potential destination, if he gets traded this summer, according to Marc Beerman of the New York Post. While the Lakers have made several attempts to snag the All-Star forward, Beerman believes the Clippers have become a more intriguing team for Anthony because of its championship-caliber core.

Beerman stressed the Clippers have the trade assets, particularly forward Blake Griffin, to make a run at Anthony this offseason. Moreover, between the two Los Angeles team, the Clippers give Melo better position to contend for a title, with the Lakers still pretty much in rebuilding place.

Anthony, on the other hand, immediately shut down the report.

"My name is always associated with L.A., whether it was earlier with the Lakers, now it's the Clippers,'' Anthony said. "I try not to pay attention to that. I laugh it off. People always try to make scenarios and situations. But nothing's happened."

Anthony has been a subject of trade speculations for the last two years. At this year's trade deadline, several sources reported about a three-team blockbuster deal involving the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and the Knicks, but the proposed trade never materialized allegedly because of Anthony's decision not to leave New York.

-Derrick Williams, who can opt out from the final year of two-year deal with the New York Knicks, disclosed that the Lakers made a serious run at him last offseason. Williams, the no.2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, is averaging 8.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16 minutes per game this season. Although he never regretted picking the Knicks over the Lakers, Williams is expected to draw interest from the Lakers once more this offseason.

"I felt like I picked the right spot where I wanted to be - that was New York to play with Carmelo, I knew they had a great pick in [Kristaps Porzingis], all the pieces we have here," Williams said. "We haven't played well the last month, but I don't think it sums up our whole season."
