In an interview with Digital Spy, David Harewood, who plays Hank Henshaw/Martian Manhunter, in the DC Comics series, said that he remains optimistic that the show will be renewed. He shared that the recent "Flash" series crossover definitely helped create the much-needed buzz for the network and other viewers to finally take notice.

"I've heard lots of rumblings - there are no guarantees. But CBS has made some very positive noises. All I know is that we've just had one of our biggest audiences of the year so far with the Flash crossover so it's all looking positive."

The "Supergirl" - "The Flash" crossover reportedly drew an average of 7.2 million viewers, and averaged a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49.

Harewood also shared that fans of "Supergirl" have been nothing but supportive, eagerly campaigning for the show to be renewed for another season. Over at Twitter, many netizens were asking CBS to quit the suspense and announce the renewal or cancellation already.

The folks at Carter Matt believed that renewing "Supergirl" season 2 will actually be beneficial for CBS, given that the series brings an entire different kind of audience to the network, one that they were not used to having. While the ratings could have been better, it was pointed out that giving "Supergirl" another shot will open doors to more crossovers to other DC Comics series.

The outlet further pointed out that by renewing "Supergirl" season 2, the writers will be given the opportunity to make the series better.

"Getting a second season would help the show to correct some of its biggest season 1 flaws, including a tone that was at times a little too cheesy and a feel that was a little too much like a romantic comedy at times."

"Supergirl" airs Mondays on CBS.
