Many reports have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is the best Android smartphone of 2016. However, other devices such as the Huawei Mate 8 stand a chance to put up a stiff competition.

With regard to the design, the Mate 8 is a bigger gadget that comes with a full metal body, giving a premium look and feel. The smartphone has beveled edges that improve the look, in addition to the sandblasted finish at the back. The device has a fingerprint scanner on its back panel, and it comes in gold, silver, gray, and mocha brown.

While the S7 Edge has a metal frame, its back panel is made from Gorilla Glass 4. This smartphone's fingerprint scanner is included in the home button, and the gadget has an IP68 rating, which implies that it is not only waterproof but also dustproof. Galaxy S7 Edge comes in color variants of gold, white, silver, and black.

An impressive feature on the S7 Edge is its dual-curved screen. One of the smartphone's edges is customizable to display apps, notifications, contacts, a night clock.

According to Daily Star Gazette, the Huawei Mate 8 is a larger LCD display that measures 6.0 inches with a screen resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixel and a density of 368ppi. On the contrary, the S7 Edge comes with a Super AMOLED display measuring 5.5 inches with a screen resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixel and a density of 534ppi.

The South Korean tech giant flagship phone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, has a quad-core CPU, and an Andreno 530 GPU, according to Mirror. However, the Mate 8 runs on a HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC, has an octa-core CU, and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.

The two smartphones have microSD slots, but the S7 Edge supports up to 200 GB while the Mate 8 only up to 128GB. About their RAM, the Galaxy S7 Edge has 4 GB of RAM, while the Huawei flagship phone has either 3GB or 4GB.

Another difference can be seen when it comes to their cameras. While the Mate 8 sports a 16MP camera, the S7 Edge has a 12MP one. However, the S7 Edge beats the Mate 8 when it comes to pricing, going at $299 against $643.
