The appearance of The Flash' Barry Allen, played by Grunt Gustin, in "Supergirl" has given a hope that the series will be having a second season.

The series, which is about Superman's cousin Kara Danvers, played by Melissa Benoist, will be ending its premier season soon. To fans' disappointment, "Supergirl" has not been included in the CBS list, announced in March 25, of the 11 shows that will be renewed. However, the strong viewership that the series' recent episode "World's Finest" had has created speculation that there will be a second season for it.

"Supergirl" started with a strong viewership during its early episodes; however, in the following weeks it has declined. The show only regained the interest of viewers during "The Flash" crossover.

David Harewood, who plays the role of Martian Hunter, stated in an interview with Digital Spy that there are rumblings about a possible renewal, but has no guarantee yet.

"But CBS has made some very positive noises. All I know is that we've just had one of our biggest audiences of the year so far with 'The Flash' crossover so it's all looking positive," Harewood continued.

Asked in an interview with ET, Gustin revealed the secret between the tandem of the two superheroes, which has made the crossover a success. "It's a fun dynamic. They are both kind of have that awkward, bubbly personality, but it works well together, so they have a lot of fun together," "The Flash" fame explained.

Benoist added in the same interview that they are "both such dorks, so quirky and embarrassing, so there is a lot of that."

In the last episodes of "Supergirl," Kara has been struggling with herself and her being a threat to the security of mankind. The crossover brought redemption to Supergirl, and people witnessed how she was willing to sacrifice even herself just to save the earth. However, the National City was already controlled by Non.

"Supergirl" has two episodes left, and the finale's synopsis has been revealed, as We Got This Covered reported.

The plot goes, "Supergirl is forced to battle with an unexpected foe and must risk everything - including her life - to prevent Non and Indigo from destroying every person on the planet."

"Supergirl" is aired on Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.
