Because of the immense popularity of “Descendants of the Stars” actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye kyo, the star who portrays army surgeon Kang Mo-yeon was mistaken for a male KPop star, Lee Sung-jong of the boy band INFINITE.

The photo was that of Lee and Kim Seolhyun, a member of the South Korean girl group AOA, and a dancer, actress and singer. AllKpop reported that several netizens mistook Song Hye kyo for Lee who was wearing a camouflage pattern jacket, one of the costumes of “Descendants of the Stars” actors.

A sample of the posts noted that “Sungjong’s beauty is seriously no joke… Every time I watch ‘Descendants of the Sun’ it surprises me how much she looks like Sungjong,” Another wrote, “They’re both pretty kekekeke Sungjong was once famous for being a Song Hye kyo look-alike.”

The mistaken identity led to a comparison between Kim and Lee who are seen in “Law of the Jungle in Tonga,” aired over SBS.

Despite his pretty face, 21-year-old Lee was cast in July 2015 in “Real Men,” a reality show on MBC which features celebrities who join the South Korean army, according to TV Report. The intensive training was in Gangwon Province.

Like other male Korean celebrities, Lee is also hounded by speculations about his sexual preference and masculinity. A photo of Lee practicing for the band’s Dilemma Tour Encore concert on May 5 surfaced in social media showing the singer crying. During the concert, Lee asked his fans not to listen to rumors after posts on Kpop sites Instiz and Pann hinted that he is gay through blind items.

Lee could perhaps learn a lesson or two from Song Joong-ki who also was known for looking feminine during his earlier years but crossed over and is now being admired for his masculinity after he completed his compulsory two-year military training and took the role of Yoo Si Jin in “Descendants of the Sun” which rules the airwaves in South Korea and China’s video platform iQiyi.

Lee’s failures in “Real Men” are seen in the video below.
