"Arrow" season 4, episode 19 will see Laurel Lance / Black Canary's (Katie Cassidy) funeral. However, even if the character has already been killed off, there are still some rumors that the character may return to the show.

In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Marc Guggenheim said that their decision to kill off a character was borne out of their desire to give the show new storylines in the future.

Unfortunately for Cassidy, her character was the one that they believe if killed off can impact the other characters on the show tremendously.

Guggenheim acknowledged the fact that the exit of the "Gossip Girl" alum was such a big deal not only for her, but also for the entire cast and crew of the show.

"Yeah, this was big. I think it's fair to say, without any disrespect to any of the actors we've killed off - and lord knows there's probably enough to spin off another show - this is clearly the biggest one we've done," he said.

Meanwhile, Guggenheim also revealed that it was a tough decision for them to say goodbye not only to the character, but also to Cassidy because everyone loved her.

"The argument against it was the fact that we all love Katie. We love working with Katie, we love having her on the show. We love the fact that she plays Black Canary," he said.

In other news, Guggenheim also revealed that Cassidy didn't take the new of her character's fate very well. After all, it was a dreaded conversation that any of the cast members don't ever want to hear from the producers of the show.

Meanwhile, Guggenheim also hinted on the possibility of the Black Canary returning but no longer to be played by Cassidy.

There are some rumors that the role will be assumed by newcomer Madison McLaughlin.

"I don't want to spoil it, honestly. Madison is terrific, she's in episode 19 in a circumstance that is very dependent upon the events of this week's episode," he said.

"Arrow" season 4, episode 19 will air on The CW on April 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
