Mars Food, makers of popular candy bars and jarred sauces, has announced plans to improve the nutritional content of their numerous products. The company is also planning to add warning labels about health dangers when it comes to eating unhealthy food products.

According to a press release from the food company's official website, they wanted to create and promote healthier food options, and to make loyal consumers to cook and share nutritious meals with their loved ones. The new plan will be the new global Health and Wellbeing Ambition and it will be released over the next five years.

There will be additional enhanced labels from the company to its different food products, which will have additional nutritional information, and warning messages that remind consumers that occasional foods should be eaten once a week or less. The labels would also remind them that everyday foods should be products that have more nutritional value too.

To help consumers choose between healthier everyday foods and less healthy occasional foods is the goal of the company. They are also offering advice on the different products that might have a lot of added sugar, salt, or fat, which should not be eaten every day since it is unhealthy for the body.

Mars Food global president Fiona Dawson told Bloomberg in an interview that they wanted to discuss with the US FDA, in regards to the salt guidelines for processed food they are working on. She said that it was the perfect opportunity to engage in the debate, and expressed that the industry will move really well if there are voluntary guidelines.

Dawson added that the food industry has already made a large improvement when it comes to reducing sodium, but she feels that their company needs to do more work to help their consumers reduce their intake of sodium. They also support the release of the US FDA's draft sodium reduction guidance.

The food company's plan will start by updating their current website to contain more health information, which will be added eventually on food product labels. Research will be done by the staff to create more effective messages about healthy foods.
