Since the game hit the shelves on March 24, "Dark Souls 3" for PS4 and Xbox One has been well-received as it surpassed the sales of its predecessor, "Dark Souls 2."

During its first week, "Dark Souls 3" garnered as much as 61 percent increase in sales compared to "Dark Souls 2" and the former remains on top of UK's best-selling games as of this writing, IGN reported. To sweeten things up, this is just the physical sales of the game, but once digital sales are accounted as well, it is expected to soar even more.

Also, the PC release has been phenomenal as well as more than 600,000 copies of "Dark Souls 3" has been shipped, while "Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin" finished with 650,000 copies sold.

The selling points of this game, as highlighted by the website, are "Weapon arts allow stylish and versatile new moves without tarnishing the purity of the combat system." Furthermore, the game's setting is stunning and is just the perfect place for squaring off with bosses and enemies, which are noted to be a lot harder compared to "DS2."

As mentioned by FromSoftware in November 2015, this will be the last installment of the "Dark Souls" game franchise and the developers could not have done a better job concluding the story, the gaming website remarked.

FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview with Video Gamer in November 2015 that this will be the last installment of the series, since it does not feel right to go on and the company needs to work with new ideas.

"I believe that From Software has to create new things. There will be new types of games coming from us, and Dark Souls 3 is an important marker in the evolution of From Software," Miyazaki said in the interview.

Also, the developers still has a lot to offer to its huge fan base as "Dark Souls 3" for PS4, Xbox One and PC is reportedly set to release its first DLC this autumn, Video Gamer reported. Moreover, fans will be getting the second DLC later this year. Both DLCs will be included in the $19.99 season pass although the individual prices are yet to be announced.
