The KBS drama "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS) aired its finale just last week on April 14, Thursday. The show starring Song Joong-ki (Yoo Shi Jin), Song Hye-Kyo (Kang Mo Yeon), Kim Ji-won (Yoon Myung Ju) and Jin Goo (Seo Dae Young) became a household word in no time and has been given the title of number one K-drama of recent times. Meanwhile, rampant rumours and speculations suggest that the show might return for Season 2. At the same time, fans are hoping to see more of Yoo Shi Jin and Kang Mo Yeon's story in the sequel.
In a recent interview, one of the scriptwriters opened up about "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS) Season 2. Kim Won Sook shut down the rumours and denied the possibility of a sequel for the mega-hit romantic drama.
"I have no plans for a second season," Kim Won Sook said in an interview as quoted by Soompi. "I've already told the story I wanted to tell."
The scriptwriter hopes that the fan-favourite couple Yoo Shi Jin and Kang Mo Yeon will find their happily ever after. He hopes that the end of "Descendants of the Sun" will bring an end to their troubles as well so that they can lead a happy life.
Considering what Kim Won Sook had to say, the website is speculating that "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 may not be happening. As for his next project, he revealed that he wishes to write a "historical drama" or something for "19+ genre."
As for the Kim Eun Sook, the other scriptwriter of the enormously popular "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS), she is working on her upcoming drama. According to Drama Fever, Korean actor Gong Yoo will be taking the lead in her forthcoming tvN show. While not much is known about Kim Eun Sook's next project, it is said that the story involves Korean goblins.
Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Kim Eun Sook and Kim Won Sook's "Descendants of the Sun" (DoTS) broke all records with 38.8 percent ratings for its emotional finale. The show became number one show among the shows airing at the same time.
