The Cleveland Browns traded the second overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft to the Philadelphia Eagles on April 20, Wednesday. However, Browns general manager Sashi Brown revealed that it does not guarantee Robert Griffin III a starting spot.

Many experts believed that the Browns wanted to draft California quarterback Jared Goff but the Los Angeles Rams are locked in get him first overall. They found the Eagles, who wanted North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz, which is why the trade was made.

Cleveland received a handful of draft picks from Philadelphia including the Eagles' eighth overall pick, a third- round pick, a fourth-round pick for 2016. The Browns will also get a first-round pick in 2017 and a second-round pick in 2018 while only trading their 2016 second overall pick and a 2017 fourth-round pick.

Brown made it clear in an interview with ESPN that RG3 has to battle for the starting spot. The Browns currently have four quarterbacks on their roster heading into next season.

"Listen, we have Connor [Shaw] and Austin [Davis] and Josh [McCown] here competing along with Robert and that's what we want to provide, which is competition at that position," Brown said.

Griffin seems to agree with his general manager by responding that only left tackle Joe Thomas has earned a starting spot for the Browns. Thomas has been named to the Pro-Bowl for nine straight seasons.

The Browns are hoping that RG3 will recapture some of the old magic of his rookie season when they signed him to a two-year, $15 million deal this offseason. The 26-year-old QB did not play a game for the Washington Redskins last season and was subsequently released.

The Baylor product won the 2012 NFL Offensive of the Rookie of the Year Award when he led the Redskin to the playoffs. However, injuries, inconsistencies and attitude problem led to the downfall of Griffin in Washington.

According to USA Today, Baylor coach Art Briles believes that RG3 can revive his career in Cleveland because of his new mentality and understanding of the game. He also mentioned that having a fresh start can help anyone, especially Griffin who is as gifted and talented as anyone in the NFL.
