"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on April 27 and it is expected to rack up a lot of ticket sales from the get-go. To sweeten things up, the pairing of Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland will go beyond this film as the former is set to appear in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

Sony and Marvel saw great potential in Downey and Holland pair-up in "Captain America: Civil War" and it convinced the two companies to insert the veteran actor in the 2017 flick, Variety reported. It is no secret that Spider-Man will be siding with the billionaire tech mogul. In the comic version, Peter Parker and Tony Stark shared a mentor-student relationship during the "Civil War" saga.

The film will be directed by Jon Watts and his scriptwriters will be John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Sony executive Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige will serve as the film's producers and the film is said to focus on Peter Parker's days as a high-school student.

Also, Tony Revolori and Laura Harrier will be joining Holland as cast members. Michael Keaton is also said to be joining the cast and play a role of a villain, but his schedule might not allow it. Meanwhile, fans over at Variety are speculating that in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," they will see the Iron Spider Armor as they would not insert Stark in the plot if not for this.

Before Keaton was out for the role, there were six villains that could have fit the veteran actor perfectly, according to Comic Book Resources. First and probably one of the more favorite villains to appear in the movie is The Vulture. Adrian Toomes/Vulture is a scientist who could have used his knowledge to make the world a better place but due to his technology being stolen from him, he deviated from the rightful path.

However, The Vulture is pegged only as the secondary villain. Norman Osborne, better known as the Green Goblin, is said to be the primary villain once again. Should this materialize, this would be the third "Spider-Man" movie franchise that Green Goblin was chosen as a villain. Other villains that are linked to the movie are Mysterio, Chameleon, The Jackal and Morlun.

Here is a video from Collider confirming Keaton will be unable to join the film's cast.
