KBS's hit romance drama "Descendants of the Sun" may have reached its conclusion but fans should expect a second sequel to come out by 2017. Meanwhile, actor Song Joong-Ki popularity continues to rise even as he dazzles on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Korea.

The South Korea's national broadcaster unveiled on Friday April 22 that it is holding internal discussion to produce the second sequel to the just concluded hit drama, according to MSN. The show captivated many viewers in South Korea and China when it debuted on the same date.

According to the publication, the head of KBS's drama department Jung Sung-hyo said, "We are creating the second 'Descendants of the Sun."

Sung-hyo pointed out that KBS is in discussions with writer Kim Eun-sook and the main cast to have another sequel of the original. The conclusion is yet to be reached, but Sung-hyo said that talks have so far been positive.   

The head of drama department indicated that they broadcaster cannot say it is certain about the second sequel because actors do not decide until they read the script. Furthermore, it is not clear whether the second sequel will be called "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 or an entirely different show will be developed inspired by the original. As a result, fans will have to remain patient for the respective parties to reach a consensus.

On the other hand, the 30-year-old lead Joong-Ki has graced the cover of fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar Korea for the May issue, according to The Straits Times. The magazine released stills on its Facebook page recently to the delight of the actor's fanbase.

The revealed photos captioned "Exclusive, Song Joong-Ki's Very Private Moment," features a sneak peek of the actor posing for camera bare-chested while wrapped in white sheets. In a post, the crew of the magazine highly praised Joong-Ki on his professional attitude and leadership.

Joong-Ki played Yoo Sin Jin, a charming soldier in the Special Forces, in the "Descendants of the Sun." The fan-favorite actor began his Asia fan-meeting trip at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, attracting approximately 4,000 fans. The meeting is the first one since 2013 after completing his military training and returning to television spectacularly with "Descendants of the Sun."
