Many speculations usually follow every announcement of Pokémon games, focusing on what new monsters will make their premiere. Nintendo officially announced "Pokémon Sun and Moon" back in February, and while most details have been kept under wrap, latest rumors indicate that the game will add 10 new and mysterious Pokémon to the ever-expanding list.

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" names leaked a few days ahead of the official announcement, and it seems the trend may be repeating itself. Excitingly for fans of the Pokémon games, keen NeoGAF Watch Da Birdie spotted a clue as to what the new legendaries will be called.

Birdie had a quick flip through the recently registered trademarks in Japan, and he discovered two beautiful entries purportedly listed by Game Freak: Solgaleo and Lunaala, which blend perfectly with the "Sun and Moon" themes. If the leaks turn out to be true, the game's creature will be some sort of lion - possibly the first legendary lion Pokémon since Entei that appeared in "Pokémon Gold and Silver."

There are rumors that the leaked names allude to a Spanish setting, with "sol" referring to sun, "leon" meaning lion, "Luna" implying moon, and "ala" meaning wing. Furthermore, the game director, Junichi Masuda, visited Spain in 2014 and reported the trip on his blog.

However, the Pokémon franchise fans should take the rumors with a pinch of salt since Serebii reported that the trademark were not listed by Game Freak, but Yusuke Inui - an IP lawyer in Japan. There is possibility that the trademarks were registered through a proxy, a trick associated with big companies keeping secrets.

It is not the first time to have such registered trademarks since Nintendo employed the same strategy for the names "Delphox" and "Meowstic" before the release of "Pokémon X and Y." Following this first incident, there is likelihood that the gaming giant is making sure that it prevents any further leaks.

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" is slated for a release during the holidays, although there is no official release date confirmed. However, there are expectations that the box art - which mostly contains images of the game's legendaries - will come out in May.
