New Motorola owner Lenovo is reportedly ready for the Moto X 2016 release date that likely will happen as early as June 9. And as proof that the X3 has been finalized, a Geekbench result of the device leaked out that showed off impressive Android flagship specifications.

The smartphone that Geekbench tested came from Motorola and is codenamed Sheridan XT1650. Unsurprisingly, the handset is powered by the best and greatest from Qualcomm - that is the quad-core Snapdragon 820 that clocks at top speed of 1.59GHz. What explicitly hinted that the device could be the Moto X3 is the RAM provision, listed at 4GB RAM, according to Mobipicker.

The same report indicated that the third Moto X will launch in two flavors, the second one humming at a faster rate of 2.15GHz. But it is unclear if the component specification will also be elevated such as a bigger screen size and up to 6GB RAM, which is rumored for the upcoming Galaxy Note 6.

The prototype that was tested listed Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 but as the Moto handsets are known to run near-stock Android, the chance is high that Android N will slide out of the box with the Motorola-Lenovo hero phone.

This scenario is supported by the claim from Mobipicker that unpacking time for the X3 is June 9 (late May 2016 in India per numerous reports) or few weeks after Google's I/O gathering in May 18. On that event, Android N is expected to come out, thus positioning the new Moto X for first crack on the new mobile operating system version.

But the latest Moto X leak did not include design details though as early as last year Motorola executives have dropped clues that the flagship will switch to metal with the build flatter and slimmer. If true, the new design approach will ditch the curvy build seen in the past models.

Android Community has reported too that fingerprint reader will be part of the Moto X3 deal with the sensor located at the front panel. The feature upgrade is but anticipated as biometrics is natively supported in Marshmallow and likely to be enhanced come the jump to Android N. Also, fingerprint scanner is now regarded as a flagship standard.

As mentioned, June 9 is likely the unpacking time for the Moto X 2016, which is much earlier than the release date of its 2015 predecessor.
