Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release may not happen next month as reports said that its launch was pushed back in late 2016 or early 2017.

According to tech news blog The Bitbag, the Surface Pro 5 will be powered by the next generation Kaby Lake processor from Intel. This new chipset from Intel is the 14nm successor of Skylake chip. One of the significant changes from the previous chipset is Kaby Lake's native support for USB 3.1 and new graphics architecture that will further improve the performance of the system.

Because of this, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release is suspected to take place at a much later date as the Kaby Lake processor will be ready by late 2016.

Moreover, the predecessors of Microsoft Surface Pro line were announced in October and there is a big chance that the tablet-laptop hybrid will be released around the same time.

Rumors say that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 will come with 4K pixel resolution that will enable users to stream 4K video content on tablet. Surface Pro 5 will have a screen size of 13.3 inches, which is the common spec on most laptops.

Latest whispers claimed that the upcoming laptop-tablet hybrids will run the second update of Windows 10 operating system, Redstone 2.

The devices is also purported to pack an improved battery life, as the Surface Pro 4's battery juice is worth 5 hours and 15 minutes of videos. Microsoft promised 9 hours of playback last time; thus, it may go up to 7 hours of battery life.

The entry-level Surface Pro 5 running on Intel i5 will cost $899, while the laplet powered by i7 will cost $999 and $1,599 for an i7 Extreme. The price will go up based on storage and other features.

However, Microsoft has not announced any official information yet and consumers must wait for the updates.
