The two leading actors of the popular show "The Vampire Diaries" are reportedly quitting after the significant drop in show's recent ratings, which resulted due to the exit of Nina Dobrev from the show. Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, who play the role of Damon and Stefan, are going to part ways from the show.
It is reported that both the leading actors from the series have already notified that Season 8 of "The Vampire Diaries" television series will be their last one. Apparently, there are different speculations being made about Somerhalder's exit from the show. The popular one is rumored to be of his character making a sacrifice of his life in order to save Bonnie, whose character is already reported to be killed off in Season 8.
Somerhalder recently hinted at his exit by tweeting about the end of the series. He later clarified that ending is for him and not for the show. Somerhalder will be sacrificing his life or indulge in something that will be a matter of life and death in order to save Bonnie, played by Kat Graham.

The Bonnie sequence is reported to be subsequently leading to his character Damon's death in the series. It will also provide an ending to a romance, which had been the major focus of the show for a long time. According to News Every Day, Wesley is also going to split ways from the show. The show is rumored to come to a closure in the absence of its leading cast but nothing is said to be finalized as of yet.
In an interview with TV Guide, Somerhalder spoke about his exit and hinted at a big revelation that many beautiful characters of the show will bid farewell by the last season of "The Vampire Diaries." Damon will have to face the foreseen death in the last season.
In addition, there will be new revelations about the entire group including how all the characters get along with others. Drastic decisions are said to be made in the last episode of Season 7. The last episode of this season will make way for some lead character's exit, which is scheduled to premiere on May 13, 2016.
