The makers of the 'Doom' killed the switch of their newly launched Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for "Blackroom." The funding of the Night Work Games project was cancelled after it racked up $131, 052 from 2,287 micro-investors.

"Blackroom" campaign had become a huge hit on Kickstarter. In just four days, the campaign had successfully reached 19 percent of total pledge of $700,000. The great response on the crowdfunding website can be ascribed to Carmack and Romero's pre-built reputation for developing Doom and Quake developer iD software.

Fortunately, for Night Work Games' fans the decision is not a "quit" but just a pause. "We believe, however, it is the right choice," Carmack and Romero wrote on the Blackroom Kickstarter page. "We know you do, too." So both developers are only gone just to make a comeback to reboot the currently cancelled campaign of the FPS game.

According to the information provided on the Kickstarter, "Blackroom" is going to be FPS game with both single-player challenge modes and multi-player maps. Furthermore, it boasted community maps with loadable mods and maps creation. The developing game was supposed to be rolled out for Window, Mac on Steam towards the end of 2018.

The game was poised as highly violent blood and gore shooter and features various developmental and in-game material from "Blackroom." This included concept art, details of weaponry with pictures, accessories, and information about the previous achievements of Carmack and Romero's previous work to qualify them as a trust-worthy people.

The story line of the game, as mapped out by Engadget, goes something like the world is threatened by a new holographic technology. Now the main character of the game named Sonore is the only hope to cancel the aberrations created by the holographic simulations.

Although Night Work Games says the campaign is on the "pause," it is technically not possible on Kickstarter. What they can do is create another campaign, repeating the promotion process all over again. This time, with gameplay demos, as they have promised.
