Samsung finally unveiled the much anticipated successor to its NX camera series, the NX500 on Feb. 5, Thursday. The new mirrorless camera is an upgraded version of the Samsung NX300 and sports a 28-megapixel APS-C-size BSI-CMOS sensor and is also capable of recording video with complete 4K support.

The NX500's has a 3-inch super-AMOLED touchscreen than can be flipped 180-degrees thus enabling its users to take selfies just like the NX300M. The 28-megapixel resolution also provides an excellent photo quality.

The NX500 can shoot video with Ultra-HD and 4K resolution thanks to the cameras DRIMeV imaging processor which Samsung claims to be faster than its predecessor, according to Uber Gizmo.

On the software side, the NX500 shares an almost identical feature with the Samsung NX1. Both have full Bluetooth and WiFi support. The NX500 also runs using the Samsung SmartCamera firmware which also powers its predecessor.

There is only a slight change on the NX500's body frame. This might be due to the fact that Samsung has to cramp up all those high-end specs in a body measuring 4.7 x 2.5 x 1.7 inches.

The NX500 has an added physical auto-exposure lock button and two adjustment dials, one located on the top and one on the back of the camera, CNet reported. The report added that the record button was relocated on the ledge just above the thumb grip.

The camera will be available in a two-tone silver and leatherette body and color variants of black, white and brown.

The NX500 kit includes a 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 power zoom less and will be available in the United States for $800. United Kingdom pricing is at £600.
