Struggling contenders AC Milan (15-10-12, 57 points) have fallen short of a Europa League berth with only one matchday left in the 2015-2016 Serie A season. They clash with third-running squad AS Roma (22-4-11, 77 points) at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this Saturday, May 14th to conclude their mercurial campaign this term.
Milan is now at the seventh spot of the Italian top flight table, four points short of the last Europa League qualifying slot currently held by fifth-placed team ACF Fiorentina.
The team started well but encountered difficulties during the last several weeks of the season. I Rossoneri only had two wins in their last six outings which contributed to their fall in the overall standings.
In their most recent match, Milan held on for a 1-0 win over lowly squad Bologna FC at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara last Saturday, as per Goal.
Colombian striker Carlos Bacca scored the winning goal for head coach Cristian Brocchi's side with a successful penalty kick at the 40th minute of the match.
I Veltri played with a 10-man team in almost the whole game as Guinean defensive midfielder Amadou Diawara was booked with two quick yellow cards and sent off at the 12th minute.
Meanwhile, Roma extended its unbeaten run in the Italian top flight to 16 games as they demolished AC Chievo, 3-0, at their home ground of Stadio Olimpico last Sunday, as reported by Forza Italian Football.
Three different I Giallorossi players scored a goal each to complete the three-goal haul of head coach Luciano Spalletti's team, namely Radja Nainggolan, Antonio Rudiger, and Miralem Pjanic at the 18th, 39th, and 85th minutes respectively.
The win was also the fourth straight for La Maggica as they still have a chance to directly qualify in the group stage of next season's Champions League competitions if they win this fixture and second-running team Napoli loses theirs against Frosinone in the same matchday.
The predicted result is a 3-0 romp for Roma.
