The publication noted that the finale episode for "Nashville" season 4 will air on May 25. This will also serve as the last ever episode where fans of Rayna, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) and Deacon (Charles Esten) would see all three together in one show.

If the series was renewed by ABC, its fifth season would've been under the leadership of two new co-showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick. The two were already lined up as replacement for Dee Johnson.

Meanwhile, the upcoming 20th episode of "Nashville" season 4 will focus on Rayna and Deacon facing the facts of their relationship. The installment will also see the guest appearance of famed musician Elton John.

Here's a look at the synopsis for "It's Sure Gonna Hurt": "Rayna and Deacon face the facts of their relationship; Scarlett makes an unexpected discovery about herself; Gunnar performs with Elton John; Luke makes an appearance on 'The View'; Layla launches her new album."

In other news, the 21st episode of "Nashville" season 4, also known as it finale episode, will see Rayna growing even more concerned about her daughter Maddie (Lennon Stella).

Here's a look at the synopsis for "Maybe You'll Appreciate Me Someday": "Rayna takes action when she discovers Maddie has come in contact with a deceitful figure from her past; Juliette must decide how to deal with the truth of Jeff Fordham's death; Scarlett and Gunnar consider splitting up."

Since episode 21 will be the last for "Nashville," there are some rumors that the series is expected to end with a bang. There are some speculations that not only will there be a possible breakup; one character may also be killed off. As of late, none of these rumors have been confirmed by creators of the series.

"Nashville" season 4 airs Wednesdays on ABC.
