Later this 2016 smartphone buyers will need to pick between the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. Both are destined to be supersized, powerful and gorgeous but in the end, which will prove as the better buy?

Details that came out so far seem to favor the Samsung phablet and below are the supporting reasons:

Galaxy Note 6 likely to unbox with Android N

Android N has been made official by Google as of last week and the features presented thus far - Instant Apps, Virtual Reality and Seamless System Update - are nothing short of innovative. There is little doubt that Google's new mobile OS will make the Note 6 the jumbo handset to beat this 2016 and if Korean media reports are to believed Android N will be part of Samsung's second flagship unboxing this year.

Late July or August 2016 release date?

Connected to the rumors that the Note 6 will arrive with Android N powering the device is Samsung's supposed intention to make the device available ahead of schedule. The move, purportedly, is to preempt the Apple iPhone 7 Plus rollout plans by Apple that could prove an advantage for the South Korean tech giant.

Evan Blass, known for providing mostly accurate information on upcoming mobile device, has already leaked out what he claims as the Galaxy Note 6 release date in the United States - August 15. But the actual commercial debut could even be earlier or in the latter part of July for some markets, Korea, for instance.

Whichever the case, one thing is certain - that the Note 6 will be out weeks or months ahead of its default rival, the iPhone 7 Plus, and that would mean shorter waiting time for the impatient Sammy fans and would-be switchers.

Desktop-class capabilities in a mobile device

A report by BGR indicated that both the iPhone 7 Plus and Galaxy Note 6 will touchdown with huge RAM upgrades, which is big deal for power users wanting to experience near-desktop setting on their smartphones. For the Apple phablet, it likely will be a 3GB RAM bump if only to support the dual-camera set up rumored for the device.

But more jaw-dropping is the Galaxy Note 6 supposed RAM provision that will be up to 6GB, which SamMobile said will be paired with a Snapdragon 823 or the enhanced version of the SD 820 that powers the Galaxy S7. If true, the Galaxy Note 6 on release date is essentially a full-fledged PC on a pocket, which is something that the iPhone 7 Plus would find hard to match.
