Disney has released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated live-action retelling of the classic fairytale "Beauty and the Beast." The first official trailer premiered May 23, Monday, on ABC's "Good Morning America," a day after Disney took to Twitter and announced that the trailer has been evaluated several weeks back.

The 90-second trailer offers a lens into the musical, romantic-fantasy realm of a grotesque prince and a young woman who become hopelessly enamored with one another. "Harry Potter" star Watson will play the female protagonist named Belle, whose father is detained by the Beast (Dan Stevens) and offers herself instead, unaware that her captor is an enchanted prince.

Although the teaser trailer does not really show much as far as footage from the film is concerned, but it does tease a whole slew of new twists on the classic fairytale. It also teases the new voices of Lumiere and Cogsworth, played by Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen, respectively.

The trailer ended by featuring the mystical flower, The Enchanted Rose, that slowly but surely started to shrivel. The symbolic flower serves as a reminder of the Beast's' selfishness and cruelty after the young prince turned the enchantress away, who disguised herself as an old beggar, in light of her disgusting appearance.

Further, the petals of the flower serve as a countdown on the days left before he could learn to love and procure true love in return, before the curse set upon his castle lasts forever. Peering over it is Belle, who has no clue what is in store for her.

The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Watson, Stevens, Kevin Kline, Luke Evans, Ewan McGregor, Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Emma Thompson and Audra McDonald, Slash Film has learned. The live-adaptation is helmed by the critically acclaimed filmmaker William "Bill" Condon with a screenplay by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

With an intended released on March 17, in 3D by Walt Disney Studios and Motion Pictures, the film is produced by Don Hahn, David Hoberman, and Todd Lieberman. Much to the delight of fans across the globe, the forthcoming live-adaptation will feature Alan Irwin Menken scores' composition for the 1991 animated hit of the classic fairytale, E! News reported.
