Chris Evans, who is also a regular columnist for the daily mail and a lead host of the "Top Gear" series, has just revealed the top 50 cars of 2016 . The renown car reviewer picked and listed the 50 vehicles after doing a personal review on each one, based on several factors like safety, performance, and design.

According to Motoring research, the cars were, primarily, categorized depending on their value and convenience. The categories include family hatchbacks, supercars, saloon, estate, city, sports, luxury, coupe, best of British, SUVs, hot hatches, family crossover, convertibles, and one best car of the year, the McLaren 675LT.

The top family hatchbacks include Skoda Fabia, Citroen C4 Cactus, Vauxhall Astra, Fiat 500X, Mazda 3, MINI Clubman, and Hyundai i20. For the supercars, the top players are Lamborghini Huracan, Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the Dodge Viper ACR.

In the saloon category, the top cars include Tesla Model S, Ford Mondeo, Skoda Octavia vRS 230, and Jaguar XE. The top in sports are Ford Mustang, Porsche 911, and Audi R8 while top estate vehicles comprise the likes of Audi A4, SEAT Leon X-Perience, Volvo V60 Cross Country, and Volkswagen Passat.

In the city category, only two vehicles were mentioned, the Smart Fortwo and Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam. City vehicles are currently trending because of their design, which allows them to be used in urban areas and conurbations.

The kings of the luxury list consist of Porsche Panamera, Rolls-Royce Ghost, Range Rover, and BMW 7 Series. The Coupe features Nissan 370Z Nismo, BMW M4, and Volkswagen Scirocco, convertibles include Audi TT and Mazda MX-5, the best of British Aston Martin DB10, Zenos E10 S, Ariel Nomad, MG Abingdon Edition, and Twisted T80 Land Rover Defender 110.

The SUVs are Aston Martin DB10, Zenos E10 S, Ariel Nomad, MG Abingdon Edition, and Twisted T80 Land Rover Defender 110. Lastly, the top hot hatches are Honda Civic Type R, Vauxhall Corsa VXR, and Peugeot 208 GTI while the crossovers include Honda Civic Type R, Vauxhall Corsa VXR, and Peugeot 208 GTI.

According to This is Money, Evans gave some cars a rating of below three. Such vehicles include a Skodia Fabia and a Vauxhall Astra with three-star ratings, and Fiat 500X with a one-star rating.

Many fans have reacted differently towards Evan's choices, with some disapproving his criteria of  his top 50 cars list.
