If latest reports are anything to go by, the software giant Google is working on a Nexus 7 (2016) tablet that may get announced in August 2016.
The tech company did not reveal a new Nexus device during the Google I/O 2016 event. According to reports, the Android N operating system is at present in its beta stage. The final build of Android N is expected to be available by late summer.
Currently, there is no information on how many Nexus devices will be released in 2016. There are speculations that HTC and Google are working on two Android N devices that are codenamed as S1 (Sailfish) and M1 (Marlin).
It is said that the devices will release as Nexus 2016 smartphones to replace the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones.
Rumors are also doing the rounds that Huawei and Google are making a 7-inch tablet. According to many reports, the Nexus 7 (2016) will come with a 7-inch screen that will support Quad HD resolution. The device is expected to be powered by 4 GB of RAM and Snapdragon 820 processor.
Some reports suggest that the Nexus 7 (2016) will feature Snapdragon 625 processor. It is expected to come preloaded with Android N operating system.
Speculations are doing the rounds that the Android N (final version) will be made public in August this year. Therefore, it is expected that the Nexus 7 (2016) will also get announced in August.
Meanwhile, according to a CNET report, Nexus 9 has been discontinued. HTC, which manufactured the Nexus 9 tablet, has stopped making new units of the tablet.
The tablet, which was released in 2014, was never particularly famous. The other product Google released together with the Nexus 9, the Nexus Player, has also been discontinued.
The direct sales of Nexus Player set-top box has been stopped. The device, which was made by Asus, has been unavailable from third-party retailers such as Best Buy for many months. The software giant has pulled the device's store listing completely.
The Nexus Player, which was introduced in late 2014, was one of the first devices to run Android Marshmallow and was the first device to run Android TV, Yahoo News reported.
