Rumors abound that Frank Underwood may have the last laugh in "House of Cards" Season 5. He may defeat his wife Claire in the Presidential election and emerge victorious.

The President always had a few tricks up his sleeve to defeat his detractors in the previous seasons. It is speculated that he may continue the same trend in the upcoming season to ward off his biggest competition, namely his wife.

The First Lady has her sights on the Oval Office and she is doing her utmost to become the first female President of the United States. She is aided in her efforts by her capable assistant Neve Campbell. In an interview with GQ Magazine, Campbell said that she has a very interesting and challenging role in the upcoming season.

However, the First Lady's dreams of laying claim on the Oval Office may be thwarted by her husband who is not ready to give up the Presidency so easily. He may pull up something from her past to use against her. His aide Doug Stampner is a pro at such missions and he will not hesitate to even take a life for the President.

It is also rumored that Stampner and Campbell will engage in a romantic affair in "House of Cards" Season 5. Earlier, they could not see eye to eye so it is indeed surprising that their relationship could progress to this intimate level.

On the other hand, the relationship may also be a sham. It may just be a calculated move on the part of the President or the First Lady in order to gain inside information about the other.

In other news, actress Robin Wright who enacts the character of the First Lady demanded equal pay as Kevin Spacey on the show, according to Huffington Post. She said that there are very few shows in which the female and male leads are equal and "House of Cards" happens to be one of them. Hence, she also ought to be paid in the same bracket as Spacey.

"House of Cards" Season 5 release is scheduled for March 2017. It may be the last season of the show as it has not been renewed for the sixth season.
